Discovery

Good Morning to all,

I believe that there are many of us out there that have made the discovery of L.M Montgomery and her book Anne of Green Gables, and many others that she wrote.

I discovered Anne of Green Gables as an adult. I bought the book on a whim one day, remembering that I had heard it was a Canadian Classic. From the first few words I read, this book grabbed my heart like no other had. My eyes were opened to the world of sunsets, trees, flowers and oceans. I had never embraced these things all around me before this. L.M Montgomery brought it all alive with her amazing descriptions of the beauty in nature.

Anne of course, became very real to me. Her adventures, her joys, her sorrows become part of me. She gave me an interest and love for Prince Edward Island and I have visited there 4 times, each time delighting in immersing myself in Anne’s World.

Discovering L.M. Montgomery has been amazing as well. Through her journals she opened up herself to us, and although her life held much sorrow, knowing her has only helped me to understand how an author can create another reality for themselves in their stories.

Part of me is bewildered at the heart connection I made with Anne of Green Gables and the other books L.M Montgomery wrote. How can a mere story, actually a story that some might consider only for children, spark such feelings?
